met gala style steal

09:52

I'm not going to say 'living under a rock'- it's a bit judgey, but it's been difficult not to have your social media feeds bombarded with those Met Gala pics that have been circulating the internet today. The ball, which had a theme of 'China: Through The Looking Glass', played host to some of the biggest names in celeb land, some daring dresses, and a guy that turned out not to be Jason Derulo falling down some stairs.

Look, some of the outfits were somewhat over the top, some were ridiculous, but this isn't a best dressed list. I thought I'd compile a few high-street alternatives for some of the attendees fashion choices. Just please don't ask me to find a casual everyday substitute for that dress worn by Queen B. Without further ado..

Miley's giving off a very Madonna-y vibe here, in a dress that probably isn't suitable for a summer BBQ. Also, that pattern is making my eyes go funny. This skater dress is a more casual, everyday dress that could be dressed up or down, but still features that polka dot pattern and cut-out details.

Yellow? Check! Floral print? Check! Fur? Sadly not. At least you could probably get away with wearing this River Island dress to your cousin's summer wedding without being looked at funny.

I know she's the creative director of American Vogue and all, but Grace Coddington's China inspired outfit is just a bit too much like a pair of jammies for me. I found this great co-ord set from Missguided that channels that oriental vibe into something that looks a little less like sleepwear.

Kendall looked stunning in this green sequin dress - unfortunately not all of us have the figure or the bank account to pull off something like this. An alternative is a bodycon midi dress, which is a bit more wearable. I found this high-necked little number at Boohoo.

As co-chair of this year's Gala, Jennifer Lawrence looked gorgeous in this Dior dress and simple up-do. To recreate the look find a simple, black, bodycon full length skirt and pair it with a floral crop top, like this one from Miss  Foxy. It's a simple yet elegant look that's still very on trend.

Let me know what you think! Who was your best dressed at this years Met Gala?
